Through the co-design process, the Slovenian strand of the VR4Empathy project created a space for collaboration, exchange of experiences, and joint reflection on how immersive stories can support learning about empathy, European citizenship, diversity, historical memory, and inclusion. Teachers discussed topics important to today’s school environment and explored ways to bring them closer to students in an inclusive, emotionally engaging, and pedagogically meaningful way.

Together, Slovenian partners created six scripts for VR films and co-designed accompanying lesson plans to support teachers in integrating VR content into their teaching. The scripts combine educational objectives, narrative elements, characters, situations, and reflection questions, while the lesson plans provide a pedagogical framework for working with students before, during, and after viewing the VR content.

The outcomes of these sessions represent an important step in the development of future VR learning materials. Teachers’ ideas and suggestions will serve as the basis for the further production of VR-based video content, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of selected topics while encouraging reflection, historical awareness, and empathy.

By taking part in the co-design process, Slovenian teachers helped ensure that the future VR4Empathy materials will be connected to the real needs of the school environment. Their contribution will help create learning resources that are useful, relevant, and adapted to classroom teaching, while also opening new possibilities for experiential learning through virtual reality.
