Did you know that VR4Empathy is celebrating its 2nd year? In 2025, the project made incredible strides, focusing on resource creation, preparing for pilots, and expanding the network for national teacher training.
As VR4Empathy wraps up its second year, the project has made incredible strides in shaping the future of empathy-based learning. Here are some of the major milestones and progress made in 2025:

The project successfully finalised immersive VR-based lesson plans and videos, designed to enhance both emotional and cognitive empathy in students. These resources allow students to experience and better understand different perspectives on complex social issues, fostering empathy and inclusion.

Throughout the year, the team focused on preparing for pilot testing in classrooms across Greece, Portugal, and Slovenia. The goal was to ensure that VR technology is smoothly integrated into classrooms, making it accessible and easy to use for both teachers and students.

The project held international training sessions for teacher trainers, blending face-to-face workshops with online modules. These sessions equipped trainers with the knowledge and skills to support educators in integrating VR into their classrooms and using it to foster empathy-based learning.

A strong foundation was built for the XR Education network, connecting teachers, EdTech companies, and policymakers. The focus on sustainability aims to ensure the long-term impact of the project, with continued efforts to share best practices and strengthen ties with schools, ministries, universities, and EdTech stakeholders.
The project is preparing for the upcoming pilot phase in schools, set to begin in early 2026. With these pilots, real-world testing and valuable feedback will shape the next steps. Plans for further scaling and refining the project are already underway, ensuring its growth and expansion across Europe.
