The national training of teachers in Greece was successfully completed and 43 teachers from 14 Greek schools are now ready to use VR-headsets and videos in their classes!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a remarkable leap forward for the VR4Empathy<\/strong> project, 43 teachers from 14 schools across Corinth and Attica<\/strong> have completed the highly anticipated Train-the-Teachers programme. Spanning 4 days, the programme combined online modules<\/strong> and in-person workshops<\/strong>, immersing educators in the innovative world of virtual reality and its potential to foster empathy in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teachers came from a diverse range of subjects, from languages to mathematics<\/strong>, each eager to discover how VR technology could transform their teaching approach. The programme didn\u2019t just focus on the technicalities of using VR equipment but also on the educational script<\/strong> and interactive VR videos<\/strong> that would help them build cognitive empathy<\/strong> in their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key element of the course was the focus on cognitive empathy<\/strong> \u2013 the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. Through VR, the teachers learned how to guide students through powerful experiences that place them in the shoes of people from different walks of life, allowing them to better understand diverse perspectives. This is especially critical in fostering compassion and emotional intelligence among students, who can then carry these lessons into their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, with the VR equipment<\/strong> ready to be deployed to the schools, the next exciting phase begins: pilot classroom implementations<\/strong>. Teachers will soon be taking the VR4Empathy methodology into real classrooms, where students will engage with the immersive content first-hand. These pilots will allow educators to fine-tune their approaches while gathering valuable feedback on how to make the experience even more impactful for their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project\u2019s impact<\/strong> has already been felt: teachers have reported increased confidence in using VR as a teaching tool and are eager to see their students benefit from the powerful experiences that VR can provide.
